Several USPS customers reported missing mail back in February of 2020– and authorities traced them back to the route of U.S. Postal Service (USPS) mail carrier Angela Gomez.
Authorities tracked down several fraudulent purchases and ATM withdrawals with stolen debit cards to Gomez’s address.
One customer said that she was expecting a gift card from a well-known clothing brand, but it never came. Instead, records show that the gift card had already been used, with the packages sent to Gomez.
Gomez (40), a resident of Lynn, Massachusetts, had been sentenced to three months in prison and three years of supervised probation, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts.

Surveillance footage during her working hours showed Gomez stealing mail on 21 different incidents. The security cameras at Eastern Bank also showed Gomez making purchases using the stolen debit cards.
It was only after a fraud investigator noticed suspicious activity on the three cards which included unauthorized ATM withdrawals that authorities took notice of the fact that the rightful owners of these three cards resided on Gomez’s regular mail-carrying route.
As part of her plea agreement, Gomez has agreed to pay back the sum of the amount she has stolen as compensation for her victims, which summed up into $21,387: $4,800 from stolen U.S. Treasury Economic Impact Payment checks — more commonly known as stimulus checks, and $16,587 from three compromised Eastern Bank accounts.
