110-Year Sentence: Tehama County Man Convicted in FoodMaxx Murder
A guy from Tehama County was found guilty of the murder of another man outside of a grocery store three years ago, and he was sentenced to more than one hundred years in jail for his crime.
On Thursday, the Honorable Judge Matthew McGlynn handed down a sentence of 110 years to life in state prison to Elfego Chaves Acevedo for the murder of Arturo Eugene Bent III in August of 2020.
This information was provided by the Tehama County District Attorney’s Office (TCDA).
Acevedo was found guilty of first-degree murder with personal discharge of a handgun causing death on November 2, according to the Texas Criminal Defense Attorney’s Office (TCDA).

On August 3, outside of FoodMaxx in Red Bluff, it was discovered that Acevedo was the person who shot and murdered Bent. This information was provided by the officials.
According to the Texas Criminal Defense Association, Judge McGlynn handed down a sentence of 110 years to life for the atrocious murder, stating that Acevedo “executed” Bent.
Acevedo’s several prior felony convictions, his two prior strikes under California’s Three Strikes legislation, and the fact that he was on parole at the time of the murder were apparently also taken into consideration by Judge McGlynn.
