Police say atleast 1 person injured in a shooting at a Walmart in the Atlanta region

On Wednesday, at least one person was shot and injured outside a Walmart in Marietta, Georgia, a suburb of Atlanta, according to the Cobb County Police Department.

After first tweeting that multiple people were hurt, Deputy Chief Ben Cohen clarified that at least one person had been shot and was taken in a private vehicle to a hospital 5 miles away.

No one knows the status of the patient. According to Cohen, after receiving a report of a shooter, police arrived to find “two separate groups… near the exterior portion of the Walmart Automotive Center.”

According to the deputy chief, “it was two gangs that knew each other.” “They got into an argument… Everyone is safe.”

According to Cohen, several individuals were arrested for interrogation. No guns were fired inside the 203,000-square-foot Walmart, but the store was evacuated.

Parking for the auto center is available in a tiny lot to the right of the store’s entrance, past the garden center.

WSB, a CNN affiliate, quoted customer Gail Parks as saying, “Someone in the store started rushing around yelling “Active shooter!”

A panicked stampede ensued, as customers fled the store in all directions.” Ashley Nolan, a representative for Walmart, said the firm is cooperating fully with law enforcement.

A gunman killed six people at a Walmart in Virginia two weeks before this shooting.

On the 22nd of November, a manager working the overnight shift at a Walmart in Chesapeake allegedly opened fire with a handgun in the break room, making it the third mass shooting in Virginia that month.

According to Walmart spokesman Charles Crowson, the Chesapeake location will be shuttered for “the foreseeable future” while it undergoes remodeling.

In total, the US Census Bureau estimates that there are about 767,000 people living in Cobb County.
